The steam rising from the cracks in the rock obscured the way slightly, but that wasn't about to stop her trudging along the path through the jungle basin. Her normally long and flowing hair cut back to shoulder length and pulled back into a ponytail for the journey, her skin still getting used to the feeling of the travelling clothes.
Blinking as she wiped away the sweat from her brow, she briefly entertained the idea that perhaps the rest of the expedition had gone this way and that she was just a little slow by herself, but she had more common sense than that.
With no sign of the group, no trail, no phone and her map back with the rest of the group, she understood that her chances of finding them again were slim to none. Her chest heaving with fatigue, she leaned against the nearest twisting tree, the trunk slick with moss and fungus. Reaching into her backpack, she fumbled with the clasp on her water bottle, raising it to her lips and pouring some of the Scented LettersI love how your letters smells so good,
That despite all my conscience,
I want to hold them to my nose all the time,
And fall asleep with you on my mind.
I love how you use few words when you mention something intimate,
Then telling me you are leaving the rest to my imagination,
Something you know I use well,
Whenever I miss you in ways words can't come to describe.
So as I slowly touched the pages,
I am reminded again that soon,
When our hands are together,
